The Collins family at their Harbour Market stall

Est. 1967 · Whitstable

Three generations. One market. Every morning.

Since 1947, the Collins family has been getting up before dawn to bring the finest produce from Covent Garden to the people of London and Whitstable.

How it all began

It started with Charlie Collins and a stall in London. In 1947, Charlie began making the early-morning run to the Market — returning each day with the best fruit and vegetables he could find, selling them from his stall.

His son Rob joined him, and together they built the stall into a proper shop. The same spot, the same market, the same commitment to quality that Charlie had from day one.

Today, Charlie's grandson Scott carries on the tradition. The van still leaves when the rest of are still asleep. The produce is still hand-picked. And the people of Whitstable still know exactly where to find the best fruit and veg in town.

The daily Covent Garden run

Every morning, before most of Whitstable is awake, one of the Collins family is at Covent Garden Market in London — walking the stalls, talking to growers, and hand-picking the day's produce. We've been doing this for nearly 80 years. It's not the easiest way to run a greengrocer's, but it's the only way we know how
